I love cover songs. Some artists are so good at it it is almost like they reinvent it.

I love both. Which one I loved better would depend on my mood.

Also it is kind of cool to bridge generations through music. Gives different generations something they might share in common ... the love of a good song !

Again, you never know who is doing a cover. Here, Etta James' most famous song for her was not written by her or for her. She is just covering it.

"At Last" is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Orchestra Wives, starring George Montgomery and Ann Rutherford. It was performed in the film and on record by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, with vocals by Ray Eberle and Pat Friday.

Bob Seger did a fantastic cover of Nutbush City Limits by Tina Turner for his Live Bullet album.

With a Little Help from My Friends. Joe Cocker's version is about 100x better than The Beatles.

I prefer the Quiet Riot version over the original by Slade.

Always thought it was a Beatle 'original'. Got faked out when Buddy beat them to it! Nothing like Englishmen paying beautiful homage...;-)...

I like covers of songs. First, I see it as a tribute. Second, it offers a chance to re-live the song. Third, it could potentially and truly most of the times showcase an improvement (be it in lyrics, recording, engineering). Fourth, it provides new dimension, flavor, artistry.

Some covers are superior to the originals, though this not the case most of the time. I was a tally generally thinking this last night and this case was the example in my head.

This cover of "I Can See Clearly Now" from the 90's is better than the 1972 original by Johnny Nash.
