I bought B-52's Cosmic Thing on cassette from Turtles Records and CD's. I'm sorta kicking my pre-pubescent self for not buying it on vinyl now because those were the "last days of vinyl." I thought it was really cool that they were from Georgia like me.

I've got a few years on ya!

First 45 I bought--"Bristol Stomp" by the Dovells. Bought it in 1962.
First LP I bought--"Drag City" by Jan and Dean. Bought it in 1963.

First CD I bought actually was a handful of cd's after I cashed my income tax refund check--3 Moody Blues cd's, 3 Beatles cd's, and a cd player. First cd I played? The Moody Blues "Days Of Future Passed." This was sometime in May of 1984 IIRC.

I think it was a 45 with Ringo Starr's "Photograph" on it.

First album I bought was either a really bad Beach Boys album whose title I have forgotten or possible Chic's C'est Chic.

First CD was an Om Kalthoum CD with Aamal Hayati and Arouh Limeen on it (SONO 117-E). I didn't know who she was, but I was curious about this person with the odd name who had so many recordings at Tower records and cassettes on South Street in Philadelphia. I didn't like the CD. Later she became my favorite singer.

Off hand I can't remember the first cassette I bought. It must not have felt like as much of an event as buying the other formats. OK, I'm going to assign my memory to spend the afternoon trying to recover this.

The first record I bought with my own money was Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell

We bought our first cd player in 1989, and along with it, 4 cds. U2 - The Joshua Tree, Peter Gabriel - So, Steve Winwood - Chronicles, and I haven't been able to remember the 4th cd for years. We literally own thousands of cds.

A 45 rpm "A white sport coat" by Marty Robbins, in 1957. Does that make me old ?

My first record though (A Christmas present) was a 78 rpm red plastic copy of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer by Gene Autry in 1949, damn, I am old.

Isn't that the band Paul McCartney was in before Wings?
