With this poll I am starting a new series of number 1 singles. These are singles that reached #1 on the United States Modern/Alternative Rock Singles in 1988 and 1989. The reason why I started with 1988 is because Billboard launched this chart in 1988.

Which of these would you vote for? YOU MAY VOTE FOR MORE THAN ONE SONG IF YOU WISH.

B-50s
Love and Rockets
Jesus and Mary Chain
Tears for Fears
Julian Cope(nice obscure song)
Hoodoo Gurus

After much internal debate REM and U2 got my vote.

There are only a few songs that ruled the 88 and 89 years. Here they are.

Love Shack.

The late 80s weren't a good time for music. The mid 1980s and early 1990s were much better.
