Yes. In North America for some legal reasons they were known as Yaz.
I grew up knowing them as Yaz, and I forget that most of the world knows them as Yazoo.
Well I never knew that. To confuse matters even more, in the UK we also had a singer in the 80's called Yazz, who did a song called 'The Only Way Is Up'.
Yes that has to be confusing when a Yank like me says Yaz. I never heard of the Yazz singer, but see how the confusion is multiplied for the UK maybe more so than the rest of the world.
I think I will try to get in the habit of using Yazoo.
I voted for about ten of them but the Clash wins this battle coming in just ahead of the Supremes. Bailey's addition of Fleetwood Mac is also pretty hard to argue with.
