I have a pretty big swing in music that I listen to. I go from all genres and styles, if something is good it's good. That's my mindset.

Every time I'm streaming music on Sirius XM I'll be playing the First Wave channel and EVERY single time I hear Elvis Costello, before I even realize it's him or know for sure it's him I find myself listening to his music and just getting aggravated and annoyed. I click over into the other window and yep, it's him playing, LOL every single time I get irritated by a song playing, it's him. LOL. For some reason his voice and music just grinds my gears and I don't really react to other artists the way I do to him. I don't listen to rap music so I'm sure some of that garbage would do the same but I never hardly play it.

Anyone else have that one band or artist that you just can't ever ever get into or think just completely sucks???

Yeah, I wouldn't know of any of the current pop stars songs are. I don't listen to contemporary music, the only newer stuff I do listen to would be Alt Rock, but I couldn't tell you anything about Bieber and Taylor Swift, even that other goofy broad, The one that has a weird face. I forget her name...... dresses all crazy and stuff, supposedly she actually has talent, but yeah... out of the loop I guess.

LOL, yeah I imagine having a teenager in the house you'd pick up some of that through osmosis.

U2. Even though I am a child of the late 1970's and 1980's, I just never have gotten the devotion of people to this group. Every song, every opening guitar rift, approximately the same. And poor vocals to boot. Sorry Bono.

Most of the modern female pop singers with high piercing voices that sound more like they are yelling, and female singers that do that thing with the back of their throats that make them sound like they are swallowing the notes at the end. Very unpleasant.

Katy Perry
Taylor Swift
Mylie Cyrus
Rachel Platten
Carrie Underwood (good example of the yelling is "Since U Been Gone," what a shrill horrid song)

I like Michelle Branch but she does that swallowing thing.

It's not that I can't stand a certain artist, (well maybe I do loathe U2), but that I have outgrown them. I have completely given up on contemporary music, pop and rock. It's irrelevant and no longer speaks to me. I have whittled down my music collection to about a core of 20 artists, songs and albums I think I can't live without but probably can, and actually do since I rarely play them. At one time I had over 300 CDs. I probably had at least one album by almost everybody who was anybody. Now I prefer to use my free time on other prospects, and I aim to be completely noise-free by 2017. And no, I'm not that old.
