I initially thought that could be Western Union by the Five Americans, but I don't think so. The problem now, however, is I can't get that song out of my head.

You can not get Western Union out of your head?

A huge clue appears on the previous 2 pages.
Sure sounds like it to me. I was waiting to give HH a chance before I replied. Then again, it's almost too easy....Howard may have something else up his sleeve.
As usual, I'm running late! Bad week at the house, furnace repair time. UGH!
OK, me thinks it's by the Magic Lanterns, titled "Shame Shame." Released around Oct. '68.

By golly, you've got it!
So what I took to be a generally obnoxious comment in Howard's post #189 was a clue. I had no idea. But I never would have gotten it, anyway. The song was just too far back in my mind.
But I love that song! Haven't heard it or even heard of it for years - decades, really. Takes me back to my early days in Omaha, just getting to know a new town, having moved there that summer.

Thanks, HH.
Yes Shame (on you) was half the title.

I posted a few seconds of the ending of that song but your ears were trained on the introduction so someone else solved that one. So as a minor trick came back with the next one being a few seconds of the introduction of the same song.
