PLUSH by STP

Love that song.

I remember when it came out, I first thought it was by Pearl Jam.

So obessessed with the song, I learned it on guitar, cool chord progression
and that main chord riff, wow.

The lyrics too, very mysterious, still not sure what it's about.

Also I always find it intriguing when the song title is not mentioned in the actual lyrics,
like "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin or "Longview" by Green Day.

Flies in the Vasoline is good too but Plush is the onr for me

STP is definitely one of my favorites. I was not a fan when Core came out, but their growth between Core and Purple was immense. Vatican gift shop and 4 were also great. I think they have one of the best 90’s catalogues out there.

Scott Weiland to me was one of the greatest front-man of rock. I liked everything he did. What he did with Velvet Revolver; that was a great rock n’ roll band, if only they had kept their egos at the door. His solo records were fascinating, especially 12 bar blues. The record he did with Art of Anarchy is also a beast.

But one also has to mention the rest of STP. That band sounded like a very well-oiled machine; great rhythm section. Eric Kretz is the closest I’ve heard to John Bonham.

I feel sorry for them, because they haven’t managed to regroup and continue forward, as STP or otherwise. Their work with Chester was subpar; hopefully they can find a singer and do something great.

My favorite STP record is Purple, and my favorite songs are “Big Empty” and “Lady Picture Show”:
