Frank Zappa, 1980, Public Hall, Cleveland.
There is a bar in Cleveland called The Lincoln Lounge around E.30th and Payne. The owners were the ones who always brought the inflatable sex dolls to Franks concerts, blew them up, and they got passed to the stage for Frank to use as a stage prop. They were there in force when I saw FZ, and Frank has stated he loved Cleveland when on tour ( Lets Move To Cleveland, an FZ song title ), and always awaited the inflatable vinyl ritual.
If you ever see a pic of Frank Zappa wearing a construction hard hat with a plastic pink flamingo affixed to the top...yup same guy, from the same bar. Last I remember seeing the flamingo hat was behind the bar at the Lincoln Lounge along with a framed print article with Frank wearing this exuberant C-Town fashion statement.
