It seems that whenever I bring home a newly-acquired CD, LP or tape I have to listen to it in its entirety. I may end up ripping some individual tunes for a mix but even years later when I pick out that album again I will almost always put it on start to finish.
Especially when I am buying a new release by an artist or group who is still active on the concert tour scene but have not put out new product in several years, like David Gilmour of Pink Floyd with On An Island. Another good example is the Who and their release from late 2006, The Wire. Their previous release was over 20 years ago (not including live concerts and best of compilations). Forty six years after I bought my first 45 I still get fired up when I buy new releases, especially involving artists I have been following for that many years.

I almost always rip songs and make mix Cd's. The most recent cd I have listened too continuously the whole album through is Between Two Worlds by I. What an awesome CD, it didn't leave the cd player in my car literally for a month, and i listened to every song on that album over and over. I have never listened to a single album that much before!
You know, I have a few Iron Maiden albums, but I really like the old stuff. I have Killers, but I like their first one. I don't have that album. I'm gonna have to start searching!
Wow! Check this out. The only problem with that is they don't know the value of Old School. They pay Paul Di'Anno no respect. Bruce is great and everything, but I love that Pre-Bruce Dickinson music. I don't care what they say.
I typically play an album through to the end when I first purchase it (I call it sampling). After that first sampling, there's bound to be songs that just don't resonate with me so I will not play it through again. BUT, there are a few albums that I play again and again without skipping a single song, when the songs are just so good and they flow and create a mood...

That pretty much speaks for me.
I do make lots of mixes. But there are some albums that are just gold, and not necessarily just oldies.
