I love this list!

In addition to some of my favorites that have already been named - Dylan, Carole King, Lou Reed and Warren Zevon - here are a few more that I've always appreciated.

Van Morrison
Brian Wilson
Neil Young
Todd Rundgren
Willie Dixon

And of course, the obvious elephants in the room Lennon & McCartney

edit: and how could I forget Ray Davies?

Jickler! I can't imagine why anyone would slam Lightfoot; I've been a fan of his for 40 plus years. He encountered some serious health problems but I've heard he's doing a lot better. Saw him after the Sundown album tour at Red Rocks. And just three years ago here in Grand Junction at the Avalon Theater. I have several favorites, but one that stands out song wise is Ode To Big Blue, off the album Don Quixote. Favorite album is a tie between Sundown and Sit Down Young Stranger, later renamed If You Could Read My Mind. A very talented guy.

I don't know, he's just seen as corny by lots of people. I agree about 'Ode To Big Blue' being a great song. My favorite album is either his first one or 'Don Quixote'. But yea, obviously I agree - very talented man!

PS - how do I give rep points? Seriously, I don't know how to do it!

Oh, and I agree with someone up above - how could I forget Ray Davies?
