Jerome Moross was one of the most brilliant and overlooked soundtrack composers of all time IMHO, listen for yourself

John Barry ....did some 60s James Bond moves,
including my fave soundtrack music "On Her Majesties Secret Service" (1969),
love the music during the "ski chase", very cool.

John Barry is anything but overlooked or forgotten. He's most known for those Bond movies, and Dances With Wolves, perhaps, but here's my favorite score of his.

Dimitri Tiomkin, was an exceptional composer, with at least 4 Oscars under his belt. But I still don't think he is remembered with quite the same kudos/respect as his contemporaries.

Classic films such as:-

55 Days in Peking
Guns of Navarone
Dial M for Murder
High Noon
It's a Wonderful Life

Well, I guess I won't mention Vangelis - since they have clearly not been overlooked. LOL

Alex North - 15 Oscar Nominations, but never won one (other than a bog-standard Life-time achievement/Honorary Award)

Soundtracks including:-

Spartacus
