Famous hit song from an Irving Berlin 1940's movie called This Is The Army (which was also a hit play first). The song is called, "This Is The Army, Mr Jones." While the song is very well known, not sure who had the hit record.
Those are pretty nice selections, chadgates, but I think that I forgot to vote for:
Mr. Bojangles - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
and
Mr. Postman - Marvelettes
Can I see go back and vote for them?
Also, I think that you made a mistake with the Counting Crows song title and may have gotten it mixed up with Billy Paul's Me And Mrs. Jones.
Plus, I noticed that you didn't have Bobby Vinton's Mr. Lonely(and which isn't in your Lonely thread), and which could have replaced one of those Beatles songs that I've actually never heard of before.
Also, it was nice that you had Mr. Sandman by the Chordettes since everybody knows that song and which is in a tie for first place. However, if I forgot to vote for Mr. Bojangles and Mr. Postman, then I would have broken that tie if I had remembered.
Every time I hear it I can't help but think of the Billy Paul song.
I imagine that while Mr. Jones is hanging out with the Counting Crows, striking up a conversations with black-haired flamenco dancers, his wife is hooking up with Billy...
Thanks for the catch.
