Although, I'm still not clear on the meaning of Ventura Highway.

Regarding the lyrics, "Seasons crying no despair, alligator lizards in the air," Bunnell said: "The clouds. It's my brother and I standing there on the side of the road looking at the shapes of clouds while my dad changed the tire."
Well, I think that regardless of the cryptic details in this song, Ventura Highway is still basically a song about an experience on a highway... therefore...
These two very sad and powerful songs are both about young girls who die from child abuse. The first one is more popular and is considered one of her greatest hits and classics. I think its because of her wonderful voice and the powerful vocals. Both also involve a classmates who knows about it and suspects whats going on. In the song, he fails to do anything about it. In the second song, the classmate tells her father but its too late and the girl dies. Both have very powerful lyrics in the last part ("a broken heart that the world forgot....and she flies to a place where she's loved" "Alyssa lies with Jesus because there's nothing anyone else would do....".
Both of these songs deal with an emotional message that the guy leaves for his answering machine. In the first song, its to his girlfriend who left and went to Austin, hence the name of the song.
The second song the message is for his daughter who ran away from home. Eventually both the girlfriend and the daughter call a very long time later and hear the message.

Hey, Tom. I finished listening to the rest of your songs(or parts of them), and nice matches. Also, even though I'm not a Country music fan per se, some of your songs have got me a lot closer to liking Country music.
