Haddaway's 'What Is Love' is one of the greatest dance songs ever recorded but the SNL skit and subsequent film have made it into somewhat of a joke. Seriously, it's a great song.
Sarah McLachlen - Arms of the Angels, or whatever the title is. I had the CD in the 90s, can't even look the song up now without tearing up, thanks to the abandoned pet ads. Need a kleenex just writing this...
Can't say that any song's been ruined by a movie or TV show. Fact is, there are a lot of songs I never appreciated until it was strategically placed in something I was watching. An example of this ... whenever I hear the song Many Rivers To Cross (Nilsson and Lennon) I'm reminded of a scene in one of the episodes of Rectify. It was perfect for the scene. Same thing with songs used in Mad Men and Grace and Frankie. I guess I just like music too much to let it be ruined by something I saw in a movie/show.
I used to like "Hungry Like the Wolf" until it was in that scene with Andy D. on "Old School". That ruined it for me.
What ruined this song for me was when it became known that the killer mother, Diane Downs of Ann Rule's book "Small Sacrifices" loved it and played it constantly in the car while with her children, including when she began her attack on them, killing one and crippling one for life.

Now that you mention it, I remember this song in that movie. The movie was very good but I never liked the song so it wasn't ruined for me. AND, to this day, I still don't like the song.
Agree with Maliblue, Bad to the Bone was great song in its time, ruined by commercialism. Guess it made G. Thorogood rich.
