I see he's playing in Vegas and was wondering how good of a show he puts on.

I have back in the Philippines, mid 90s. Just have to watch him as Europa and Samba Pati were 2 of my guitar inspirations.

He was younger then (though not that young) but he brought his ensemble of musicians and it was a great show. He also brought to the stage a young kid who played with him. Wonder who and where that kid is now.

I've seen him four times in four decades. Probably his most memorable show, to me anyway, was when he and the band was the warmup to Eric Clapton on his 1974 tour. They were only on stage for 45 minutes but my God what a performance!

These three lp's before that concert and the three after remains my favorite period of this great, great band. Caravanserai, Welcome, Amigos, Borboletta, Festival, Moonflower. The one lp I absolutely recommend is the 1974 release called Lotus. At the time of that release it was only pressed in Japan. Several years later it was released from a few European countries, Holland is one that comes to mind. The local shop ordered one for me and IIRC I paid $12 or so for it. Back then a single lp carried a $5.98 list price to it and Lotus was a 3 lp set, and came with posters. The lp's he did with John McGlaughlin and Alice Coltrane from that same time period are good as well.

And the quality of the Japan pressing? At that time I decided to get new releases pressed in Japan whenever I could. Lotus features a lot of songs from the above lp's and of course great versions of "Black Magic Woman" and "Oye Como Va".

It's been years since I've seen him live but would love to see him again.

I saw him a few times in the '90s. He always has incredible musicians and puts on a great show. If you like his music, you'll enjoy his show, 100% guaranteed.

Yes. I saw him in 1987. He performed with Miles Davis. A brief (part of an Amnesty International show) but stellar performance.

Texas Jam, @ the Astrodome back in the early 80's. He went on before Sammy Hagar, then Journey.

Carlos had half the stage covered with latin percussionists. It didn't exactly mesh with the "Stadium Rock" theme, but it probably paid well.

I was in concert at last summer when Santana was here in Finland
I remember very well when "Black magic woman" was fresh hit,so it was "must" to go and check Santana at live.
On stage there was also our slide-guitar queen,Miss. Erja Lyytinen.
