I'm not going to limit these to "bands." My favorites always include these:

Buddy Holly (all)
The Beatles (all)
R.E.M. (up through "Green," though most enthusiastically from "Chronic Town" through Side One of "Document")
Elvis Costello (from "My Aim Is True" up through "Punch the Clock" and further including "The Juliet Letters" and excluding "Almost Blue")

My fifth choice tends to vary. Today it's:

Joni Mitchell (from "Song to a Seagull" up through "Court and Spark" and includig "Hejira")
