No, I forgot to add a poll. I meant to, but I was being rushed to get back to work, so I did it in a hurry and it got over looked.
What's a fanboy? I never have heard that term used before, but it sounds insulting.
I've heard several versions of Pancho and Lefty sung by Townes.
Emmylou was the 1st to record the song and that brought Townes Van Zandt to the attention of alot of Baby Boomers who had never heard of Townes Van Zandt or listened to country/folk music. When Emmylou and Don Williams recorded TVZ's "If I Needed You" , it went to #1 and it was the first TVZ to chart so high and get national attention. If Emmylou had never recorded any TVZ songs, I doubt if TVZ would have ever got the recognition he deserved.
Willie Nelson found Pancho and Lefty thru Emmylou's Luxury Liner. He told that story to Emmylou on Austin City Limits when they were doing a tribute to Townes Van Zandt.
I never have heard versions by Luke Bryan or Dierks Bentley. I haven't listened to mainstream Nashville pop country music since late 80's or early 90's.
Willie and Merle, no question. (I do like Emmylou Harris, also, but for that particular song -- again, no question at all.)
