One of the later works after Bartok moved to America. I don't agree that the more approachable music language indicates that he had lost crerative ability. I do notice a sort of Jazzy flavour about this work. The Hungarian folk lines take on a bluesy feel here and there. The slow movement is one of his best 'Night music' movements and the finale an easy to get rondo finale with all kinds of musical styles, including a pretty fair fugue.
