Please say it isn't so! Get past the silly Sting intro and you have one of the best opening guitar riffs ever! The lyrics are clearly a workingman's pov, which is why so many can relate. And there just aren't that many Mark Knopflers out there swingin' an axe - his crawling finger picking style is no less than perfect on this one. And at the time, one of the best videos, too.
So, I'll give you Plant's Sea Of Love, Boston's Amanda, weird Al's Eat It and even, grudgingly, The Bangles' Manic Monday - But Money For Nothing? I have to disagree. I'm smilin' though...

I've always loved the guitar riff on "Money For Nothing" and the music video, it was one of my all time favorite music videos, Mark Knopfler sure is a great guitar player.
I also liked The Bangles' "Manic Monday" and it was one of my favorite songs done by the Bangles.

Me too! Now that is a way to disagree!! But, you have to be a guitar player to have that opinion. I'll take your word for it. It just drove me crazy in 1985 because they played it to death!! Working men? Heroes!!

OK, so after watching "White & Nerdy" for the 837th time, I decided to take the plunge and watch the actual video for the song on which it's based ("Ridin' Dirty" by Chamillionaire). And.... holy cow. Pal, they may not ever catch you "ridin' dirty" . . .
. . . but with a face like that, I promise they'll catch you "ridin' ugly" every damn time.

I do agree with you that it was played to death back in the mid 1980s but after not hearing it for awhile I've started liking the song again, I think the Dire Straits has alot of very good musicians and songwriting skills.

One song I am starting to get sick and tired of is Taylor Swift's "Teardrops on my Guitar", I do love Taylor Swift and I think she's a very good artist/songwriter, I do wish they wouldn't play "Teardrops on my Guitar" all the time, SIRIUS 2 Starlite seems to play that song at least 4 times a day and that is a little too much for me to handle.

I hear that one alot too, except more on stations that are not country. And they play a "rock" version of it that is utter crap.
I dont know if I metioned this already but "No Air" is very annoying, its on everywhere I go, grocery stores, convienet stores, resturants, outside the country club, bookstores, someone please, MAKE IT STOP!!!!! It's so BORING!! there is zero chemistry between Jordin sparks and Chris Brown. Also, i heard "Someone saved my life tonight" by Elton John and it brought back memories of me telling my mom to change the channel when I was younger. That song just drags on and on for like 10 minutes.
