Default Modern Rock or Classic Rock (and why)

For all you rockers out there, which genre do you prefer? I like both, but I prefer classic rock (mostly late 60's and 70's stuff). I'm only 22, but I grew up on the stuff. For me, it really doesn't get any better then The Who. So...which do you folks prefer, and why?

Same here...I grew up on the stuff. Even in high school, a lot of the music I listened to was from like five years back...at the newest.

Modern rock is ok but I think classic rock had more substance.

I think songwriters in the 60's and 70's used music to discuss social issues of the day better than songwriters of today. i also think musicians of that era played more out of a love of music than for the $. Not to say some of them didnt get wealthy. Rockers back then also gratefully aknowledged the contributions of the blues and country musicians who came before them. The other thing that comes to mind is the word "band". The Stones, Head East, The Who, The Almond Brothers. Those were bands! NSync,98 degrees, NKOTB. You may call them "boy bands". But THEY ARE NOT BANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see this alot as the Millennials really like the 70's and 80's rock scene where as the Gen X'ers like the 90's Alternative/Modern rock or at least who i work with and meet in my day to day life here in the USA.

I don't really know what would be considered modern rock. I mean, if it's considered like Nickelback, Good Charlotte, Trapt, Stained, any of those kind of bands, then you can't pick modern rock.

I like a lot of music from the all eras. I do not use the labels and terms like classic rock and modern rock. The music from the 60's and 70's that I like is more well known. The 80's and 90's can go both ways. Newer stuff I listen to is more obscure. To say that newer music made today is not as good as music years ago is a usual, tired, baby boomer, propaganda theory which is wrong. Joseph Arthur who is very vital today despite not many people aware of his greatness is probably the most profound, amazing, singer songwriter since Dylan! Joseph Arthur - Four Upcoming Releases

Classic Rock......"Oh yes!!"
Gimme some Queen, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, Bad Company, Steppenwolf and all the rest.
Even give me some Disco!!
Why? I use to play drums and loved playing Wipe Out......yea, that generation of music I love also.
Wife: Motown (where she grew up, but I like it too)
