My mom always played Dionne Warwick and Tom Jones, but also Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline around the house.

Ah yes, with the organ putting out bubbles everywhere! YIKES! Believe it or not, Lawrence Welk actually charted a couple of singles on the Dot label in the early '60's; "Calcutta" and "Baby Elephant Walk". I don't watch a lot of PBS television, but I understand he is on PBS from time to time.

Mom appreciated most types of music but really tried to push the classical line. For decades she tried to convince me that my life was incomplete without a thorough knowledge of the form. Didn't work one lick. The only classical piece that ever sank in was Smetana's Moldau, and that only because it was used on Captain Kangaroo.

One of the best live shows I've ever seen was Tom Jones. He is a fantastic entertainer. I saw him in Vegas, too, at the MGM Grand. Double bonus!

Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt
Send in the Clowns by Judy Collins
It's a Heartache by Bonnie Tyler

Now my Dad, on the other hand, turned me on to Frampton Comes Alive!

While my mom didnt MAKE me listen to music, the music I was exposed at home consisted of the following:

FROM MOM:
"Fly Like An Eagle" - dont know the band. It was "Fly like an eagle, to the sea, fly like an eagle let my spirit carry me on.......I want to fly like an eagle...."
Elton John
Isley Brothers
Steely Dan
Doobie Brothers
Sly Stone
Kenny Rogers
B.B. King

FROM DAD:
Country music - I still think Roy Clark is the best banjo player ever.

OLDER SIBLINGS:
Parliament
Ohio Players
Kenny G
George Duke
Bootsy Collins
Sammy Hagar
Earl Klugh
Def Leppard
