Dave Brown's bass run in Santana's "Mother's Daughter" comes to mind. So does Billy Cox's on Hendrix's Band of Gypsies "Who Knows?" Tim Commerford of Rage and his riff in "Killing in the Name Of" I just thought this might be fun and different!

I love the bass run in 24 Hours at a Time on the live Marshall Tucker CD Where We All Belong. The song even features Charlie Daniels playing some fiddle.

Dixon and Black, eh? Big Swede you are a kool guy.

MY favorite bass performence is on "Nobody But Me" by the Human Beingz. I don't know who the guy was but he was a killer.

Some that come to mind:

solo in Jethro Tull's Bouree

the "bass" in White Stripes' Seven Nation Army

I like funk bass.
I've always loved the fat sound that Flea produces with the Red Hot Chili Peppers--he and the guys do a nice jam here (along with Dani California) on Jools Holland

Here is Bootsy Collins with P-Funk frontman George Clinton
Bootsy Collins here does sort of a psychedelic funk sound: Da name is Bootsy (http://www.uclick.tv/video/161049-bootsy-collins-live-bass-solo.html?playlist=14111&position=14 - broken link)

311 - "8:16 A.M."

Chic - Good Times. Say what you want about the song -- the bass riff was cool enough that Queen lifted half of it for "Another One Bites the Dust"
