Default Anyone into Sam Phillips? Wow what a great underrated artist!

Just picked up Martini's and Bikinis from Sam Phillips and wow what an underrated album!

What a voice on this woman! So sexy and captivating.

Anyone else into her? What other albums of hers should I check out?

Me three. My first thought was of the Sun Studio Sam Phillips as well. But then I started looking around and found that she recorded as Leslie Phillips in the 80s. She's married to T Bone Burnett, or was at least. I think he produced some of her records. Evidently, she's worked with Elvis Costello too. Can't say that I'm familiar with her music, but perhaps I've tickled someone's memory.

Here's something from Martini's and Bikinis. Not bad!

You should check out The Indescribable Wow, which I think is her best album. Also check out The Turning, which can also be found under her real name of Leslie Phillips. She was once a Christian artist and left that fold because she felt like she didn't have artistic freedom, so she changed her name to Sam and signed with Virgin. The Indescribable Wow was her debut for the label.

The Turning was her last album as a christian artist and the only one she hasn't disowned. It was rereleased a few years later as Sam. It's a complicated story.
