Im 22 years old and before devoting my life to the workforce Im going on a series of road trips next year to Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Bamboozle, and possibly Coachella.

The catch is that since all my friends are married with kids, Im going alone. My mom has told me this is a stupid idea and that I'm too old for concerts. Have any of you ever done this alone?

Sorry I spelled music wrong in the thread title : (

I've been to a couple concerts alone in my time.
If you really want to do something, doing it alone is better than skipping it.
Your trip sounds exhausting, but really fun.

Default Go for it!!

People tend to be drawn to those that don't wait for a group to go out. It takes a strong mindset to overcome that little obstacle and just do it. You will meet plenty of people in the process. After all you are much more approachable single than you are in a group. For some reason, people feel less threatened striking up a conversation with one person as compared to a person of interest within a group. Make a list of what you want to see and maybe even post questions for feedback on here. Then go for it!

You're never too old for concerts - especially at 22!

I've been to four concerts by myself and they were all great:

The Fall
Sigur Ros
Sonic Youth
Interpol

The first three were GREAT, and Interpol was just good.

I actually really like going to shows alone.
That way, I don't need to pay attention to anything but the music.
I've only gone to small clubs alone, but I would do the same for a big festival.
It's weird that we are trained to never go to a concert or a movie alone. Why? They are atmospheres that are perfect for being alone in.

22 is too old for a concert!? Never!! I went to a concert just last week (Slipknot, Disturbed, Dragonforce, etc) and I'm 21.

Enjoy the concert and have fun!

Okay, I'm 40, have a 14 year old son - and one of the things we love doing together is going to concerts. I can't believe someone would say 22 is too old for a concert.

When you decide you are too old to do certain things any longer then guess what - you turn old.

Good grief! Go have fun!

We would have gone to that one as well (for Disturbed, not a huge Slipknot fan) when it was here in Denver if we hadn't had plans already....

Don't ever stop going to concerts and enjoying music. Especially once you have kids! Although you do have to wait until they are a bit older to take them to certain ones!
