My own take on the Stones. Saw them Thanksgiving evening 2006 in Denver at the Pepsi Center. They had every bit as much energy as they did when I first saw them in June of 1972 at the Denver Colysseum. At the end of an awesome two and a half hour show, everyone stays backstage while Mick brings out drummer Charlie Watts. Walks him to the end of the stage and Charlie raises his hand, clenches his fist, and holds his arm in the air what seemed to be hours. Mick stood next to him, smiling, and pointing to Charlie. It was revealed in the news that Charlie had been taking treatments for throat cancer. The info I got at the time is it was in the very early stages. The crowd was bonkers the whole night and especially were so when Charlie came out. It was an incredible moment.

I get sick of the constant reincarnation of groups like The Temptations or The Stylistics, etc. It's not because of the music, I love classic soul a lot. And that's exactly why I don't like seeing these groups reuniting all these years later with different members. The legacy is best left alone I feel. Instead they keep reuniting over and over so they can help PBS make money for specials and stuff.

There are musicians like Little Richard who got cheated out of their money back in the day and still need to make a living. Etta James (whom I adore ) is another one from the same era who was also cheated out of Royalties and hasn't done anything notable since 1997 when she released "Loves been rough on me", her last album was just a big disappointment but It's hard for me to expect people like her to quit. They paved the way for the likes of Beyonce and got royaly shafted by their record companies and managers.
I hear she played the Hollywood Bowl last month and was 3 sheets to the wind and vulgar with it. Ouch! I'd still pay to watch her perform all her old hits, just don't do any new stuff Etta.

I like them, but Kiss needs to stop dressing up and doing farwell tours. I find it hard to watch a fifty something Gene Simmons and his belly stuffed into a costume.

The Eagles were playing in Houston tonight. They are not the same anymore and should hang it up. As for a band that should keep on going even though they are 300 is Jethro Tull. I highly recommend seeing them despite their age.

people critque madonna for being too old.
What..does that mean life stops at 50? I wonder how many people here are over 30 years old? I guess most of you are past your prime and should start hopping on that death-bed.
While Madonna lost her appeal in the 90's, I still think she is pushing boundaries and living life.

It's not that Madonna is too old. It's that her new music is awful especially compared to the music she put out early in her career. I'd like to able to enjoy her classic music without being tortured by her new music.
The Stones are old, too, but their show at Dodgers Stadium rocked.
