My favorite is the 90's. There was the Elephant 6 bands that I still love - The Olivia Tremor Control, Neutral Milk Hotel, Beulah, The Apples In Stereo. I love that "neo-psychedelia" stuff.
Stereolab, Built To Spill, Mogwai (yes, they are all still around), The Fall put out some good stuff, Nirvana, The Flaming Lips were at their peak, IMO.
This was also when I was heavily into rap: A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Organized Konfusion, Showbiz & AG, Diamond D, Lord Finesse, Big L, KMD, just tons of stuff I loved.
I'm split between the '70s and '80s - my impressionist years. I'm rock, heavy metal, and soft rock. I hate new wave, but love the rise of Van Halen, Ozzy, Metallica, and others.
I voted 90's. From my post in the "Favorite Decades" thread:

I picked the 90's. Those were my childhood years, and a lot of my favorite songs I enjoy now, were made during the 90's.
I love me some 80's music too.
But I wish I could say all, cause I like a little bit of everything from each decade.
But the 90's wins with me.
I'd have to go with the 90's (bit of a late developer when it comes to music) because it was the time of one of my favourite bands - Ocean Colour Scene.
Can`t fault ya Yorkie..Craddock doing rather well with Mr Weller at the mo too..Glad they came along..I didn`t feel quite so daft in my old Ben Shermans and loafers..
mine has got to be the 80's. the problem I have with the 90's, is that the late 90's kind of sucked. I loved grunge too, as that was when I was in HS, but grunge died out and the late 90's were too littered with crappy pop.
