Me & My Co-worker are always throwing songs out there anything from..
60s,70,& 80s.
I remember a song maybe mid 70s?I only remember one line.
Theres a part that goes suki suki suki suki sue(sounds silly as hell i know)
Might be artist similar to the Allman brothers,Mountain..
I cant remember the rest of the song or who sings it...!!
Hey Average Joe Whazzup? The song you're thinking of is Sookie Sookie by Steppenwolf. It's on their first LP, released on Dunhill in the Summer of '68. It is also on the flip side of the 45 "Magic Carpet Ride", released in late September of that year."Magic Carpet Ride" appeared on their second lp. "Let it hang out baby, let it hang out now-sookie, sookie, sookie, sookie, sookie, sookie, soo!" And BTW, one more item-1968-YESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were a few songs with questionable lyrics that slipped by the system-that was one of them. One song that definitely was not going to get played was "The Pusher", also on that album. That song and "Sookie Sookie" were concert staples by the band. Saw them twice. Loved them-STILL love them!
I think dirty is the wrong word - maybe "provocative" is more precise. Apparently, the words sookie sookie refer to the sound made when, well, I had to look it up myself but you'll find it in urban dictionary under sooky sooky now or something like that. That's as much as I'mm willing to share.
I'll never forget the look on Ed Sullivan's face when he had Steppenwolf on his show maybe a month after "Born To Be Wild" hit #1 on the charts in July of '68. But I loved the guy-hey! he put the band on his show! Back then that was the ultimate for promotion. My mom was NOT happy! She was receptive to quite a bit of mid to late 60's rock music but walked out of the living room halfway through the song. Thankfully, Dad was working out of town. She missed the best part, the 30 second interview of the bandafter they played "Born To Be Wild". John Kay was pretty cool and polite with Ed. Now Goldy McJohn and Jerry Edmonton, well, they were, um you know.................
