You ever try to find modern rock on vinyl, like say The Used?

Ohhh, the good 'ol days! I fell for all the hype and started buying CDs...yes, smaller, convenient and easy to move from house to house. To think of all the care that was taken to keep them in great condition. Not only that, but back then, most people were very particular with their stereo equipment. There was an unbelievable choice of speakers, turn-tables, receivers, etc.; much like all the electronic devices today. I too prefer the quality of sound from a vinyl record....and CDs skip too!

"Everyone knows vinyl sounds better"????

Please don't presume to speak for anyone other than yourself. You're not qualified.

As far as I'm concerned, CDs sound better.

I would imagine a large portion of the general population can't tell the difference between the two. However, that dosent discount the fact that vinyl holds vastly more detail that a modern day CD

I have a great hi fi stereo at home and play records only. They sound so much warmer and richer than compact discs. You can hear the music the way God intended with the mid range frequencies being more prominent.

CDs are harsh sounding and you only get the high and low end.

Plus, CDs compromise the fidelity of older recordings.

Vinyl is the way to go !

Because you can't take a vinyl and stick it in your car and listen to it...would be my guess.

I always wondered why recordings were not marketed on reel-to-reel tape. That sounds better than records, cassette, 8-track, CD's..etc. Digital sould will always seem harsher than analog, compare a sine wave to a square wave at the same frequency...

They were in the 60s I`ve got a fair collection that belonged to my Father..If you check you know where auction site and search reel to reel you`ll see a few surprises. There is a reel to reel copy of Rubber Soul on there at the moment. I`m tempted to get it myself..

For some reason reel to reel tapes just didn't sell in the stores. Wish I knew why. As I recall around 1974 Ampex bagged the reel to reels altogether. Too bad. I had friends with reel to reel players and the sound quality was great. They were still able to buy them through the Columbia Record through the mid-70's.
