For the Temps I would have picked "Just My Imagination" and the 5 heartbeats wouldn't have made my list.

Your list is good, but nine and ten I wouldn't have picked.

Parliament Funkadelic and maybe Brick.

I had a few notables that probably should have been 9 or 10- the Stylistics, Delfonics, and the Miracles.....Parliament could have been up there aswell

My list, deleting your 3, 6, 8 & 9 and throwing in Martha & The Vandellas to replace your 5 Heartbeats. Don't get me wrong your list is good and it's difficult to narrow this to only 10 ... same with Best Song as there is so many.

The Platters (1953 - Present) key member - Tony Williams - Best Song - All of Them - Only You, The Great Pretender, My Prayer, Twilight Time and on and on

The Four Tops (1956 -present) key member - Levi Stubbs (RIP 10/08) - Best song - Reach Out

Gladys Knight & The Pips (1953-1089) key member - Gladys Knight - Best Song - Midnight Train To Georgia

Smokey Robinson & The Miracles (1955 - Present) key member - Smokey Robinson - Best Song - You Really Got A Hold On Me

Martha & the Vandellas (1957-1972) key member - Martha Reeves - Best Song - Dancing in the Street

Maybe not top ten in volumn, but so, so many greats.... How about

The O'Jays
Betty Wright
Billy Paul
Archie Bell & the Drells
Three Degrees
Curtis Mayfield
and how can we leave out the godfather of soul?!

Anyone catch Terry Gross' interview with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff? I never realized how many songs they wrote.

Patti Labelle is probably the best in her band and solo career.
