That's another great one that I forgot about. It reminds me of "Little Folks" by Charlie Daniels.

Unhappy My Tear Jerkers

Tears In Heaven- Eric Clapton
Imagine- John Lennon
Proud To Be an American- not sure
My #1 - Tears and Rain by James Blunt. Every lyric in this song brings to mind memories of my dear friend who commited suicide years ago- however I think it is a profound song about human nature and turmoil. Here's a sample...........

How I wish I could surrender my soul:
Shed the clothes that become my skin
See the liar that burns within my needing.
How I wish I chose darkness from cold.
How I wish I'd screamed outloud,
Instead I found no meaning.

I guess it's time I run, far, far away, find comfort In pain.
All pleasures the same: It just keeps me from trouble.
Hides My true shape, Like Dorian Gray.
I've heard what they say, but I'm not here for trouble.
It's more than just words: It's just tears and rain.

Won't type the whole thing, but my favorite lines are "Hold memories close at hand, help me understand the years".I find those paticular lines hopeful vs hopeless.

I once heard Rosie O'Donell sing on her show.
I cried. I screamed. My ears bled. I developed anal leakage. Had to shoot the TV!

You probably mean the song "God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood (and covered by many). It isn't called "Proud To Be An American," though for some reason many people seem to think it is.

Here's a link:
