Kinda wish I'd found Eva Cassidy a little before now. I had to listen and I had to Google. And I genuinely agree with delusianne and Capt. Dan, that she most definitely had presence and was gifted with such a great voice. Nice selection there, my friends.

"Sad Astronaut" by Lagwagon

The lead singer wrote it about the suicide of his best friend, Derrick Plourde. His voice sounds like he's about to break down in tears on the CD, and he always cries when the band plays it at a live show.

Vern Gosdin - Chiseled In Stone Lyrics (http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/gosdin-vern/chiseled-in-stone-13839.html - broken link)

"You don't know about lonely,
Or how long nights can be,
Till you lived through the story
That's still livin' in me,
And you don't know about sadness
'til you faced life alone,
You don't know about lonely
'til it's chiseled in stone..."

Good selection. It's a great song.

I just thought of a couple more, both by Skip Ewing:
It Wasn't His Child
The Gospel According to Luke

Default With Hope by Steven Curtis Chapman

"This is not at all how we thought it was supposed to be.
We had so many plans for you...
We had so many dreams
And now you've gone away..."

(deals with the death of a child) I found it right after our son died in 2001. I didn't post any more lyrics because of copyright but the end talks of the hope you hang onto of seeing your child in heaven.

Imagine by John Lennon. It was one of my father's favorite songs to sing. My father passed away almost 17 years ago. But everytime I hear that song on the radio, I can hear my father singing it & I burst out in tears.
