If you ever are in New Mexico, stop in Clovis, New Mexico to Norman Petty Studios, where Buddy recorded his early hits.

I know. For a full year I thought my brother (who was also a locally successful musician) died on the 47th anniversary of the day the music died at age 47 but then later I found out tomorrow's the anniversary for that, not today. Now I hate groundhog day.

What type of music did your brother enjoy? Probably 'A Lot'.
I know there must be quite a Rock N' Roll Band in the hereafter. Rockin Around the Clock

He was a drummer and liked just about every kind you can think of, even country. He got me listening to all kinds from the age of 10. His favorite band was Average White Band tho'. When we were teens living in Vallejo, CA he had some members of Tower of Power come over and jammed with them. The police came by after the cops were called by neighbors but when they saw who they were they didn't ask them to quiet down. I think that was right before or right after their first album came out. In recent years before his death he began singing lead sometimes as he played his drums. They won the battle of the bands before he died. Thank you for asking. I love talking about him.

My brother was much the same. Loved his electric guitar at least. He died last May. I've been thinking about him and that Rock N' Roll Band they've got Up There--sure must be something.

Rock Vets Remember 'The Day The Music Died'

... Last night's tribute concert at the original Surf raved on for six hours with a contingent of rock vets that seemed as criss-crossed as the original Winter Dance Party tour itinerary, including Graham Nash, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Wanda Jackson, Delbert McClinton, Joe Ely, Peter & Gordon, Dave Mason, Bobby Vee and Holly's original bandmates, the Crickets. ...

I wasn't around fifty years ago, but I do remember a lot of this music from the movies "La Bamba" and "The Buddy Holly Story," as well as having heard them on the radio for as long as I can remember. As I read the stories about their lives, I can't help but get a tear in my eye for the families and fans that lost such a large part of their lives on that fateful day.
