~hears light tapping on window... outline appears.... sudden alarm .... it's Sir's voice! .... rush to open window.... how did He get here?.... emotions tumble... shock... wave of joy... tension... legs grow rubbery....feeling of fainting.... slow sink to floor~
~heart's truth sinks in... must leave with Him~
~hushed whispers.... Sir says we must leave now.... wonders how.... carried.... out the window... He is not afraid of heights... apologizes that first touch must be in this manner~
~flash of father''s and mother's faces... must explain to them.... love Thee... remember thy youth.... will be in touch.... rules and purposes are understood... will keep them but will no longer be held... unable to see Him... must quickly leave lest Thee feel us ... and take me away again and become an obstacle~
~Sir's voice a shout, though calm and measured.... the time is now! ....He looks away.... love Him or not?.... want to be with Him or not? ....must make decision.... stay or go ~
~don in coat ... shoes fit for running... softest fabric placed on eyes for heights~
~heart a drum in ears ... mouth dry... whispers~ ... will go
~window opens.... wraps arms around His neck... His hands free to manuver... whispers prayers for minimal injury should we fall~
~finally on ground... move to hidden car.... Sir has arranged my short stay out of town near an aunt.... clothing... car.... airline ticket.... He will stay behind... face father directly.... not a running man... strives for honor in all things... asks my forgiveness to come only to leave again... but between us this will come to an end~
~must leave now... tonight... get on plane and go, whispers~
Thank Thee, Sir, so much... Blessed Be all Thy endeavors, Amen.

me! It gave solace and guidance... was friend and
cheer-leader. I wouldn't have made it without
you all... Thank You... ::Bows ::

What was the surprising action? Outside of
spiriting thee away? To speak from the position of
a Father's wrath and to provide my back and the
rod to release it. Horrified? He was too...
Know thy enemy (beg pardon) AND thyself.
Quote: "Know the enemy and know yourself; in a
hundred battles you will never be in peril.
When you are ignorant of the enemy, but know
yourself, your chances of winning or losing are
equal.
If ignorant both of your enemy and yourself,
you are certain in every battle to be in peril."
:: voice softens :: forgive my manner before ye...
shall take time to... take off business suit so to
speak... give Me just some hours to become
myself again... am so sorry and pray peace is
the companion of thy heart... ye must have been
a bundle of nerves... shall promise thee a
tender retreat ... :: Bows deeply... :: Shall speak
when love has had a time to assert it's perfume...

For our "program" this evening, how about this? On another thread, I mentioned the passing of great jazz saxophonist Bud Shank. That got me to thinking, how about featuring some largely unsung jazz players who have shown up on some very popular rock and pop recordings?
For example, saxophonist Phil Woods. Most people don't know it was Phil Woods who played the lovely solo on Billy Joel's tune "Just the Way You Are."
Well, back when, there was a young saxophonist who kind of set the world on its ear in the late 1940's, according to his bandleader boss at the time, Woody Herman. It was tenor player Stan Getz, here playing the lovely tune "Early Autumn."
For a little lesser known, but unique player, we go to a Quincy Jones version of Stevie Wonder's tune "Superstition." Featured playing his high, high-note trumpet on this one is Duke Ellington band alumnus "Cat" Anderson, who was well into his 60's when he recorded this.
Decades before, he was already playing his famous "screech" trumpet with Duke Ellington on Ellington's tribute to trains, "Happy Go Lucky Local." Here Cat Anderson imitates the locomotive whistle toward the end of this tune--only somewhere some distance above the treble clef. Still one of the swingin'est tunes around.
