Bass: A tie between Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy and Paul McCartney.

Drums: Place **** Fleetwood on that list of fabulous timekeepers

Uh, that's M*i*c*k Fleetwood. wtf?
Very nice choices all, Square Peg.
My brother once gave me a few Fleetwood solo tracks, good stuff.
Saw Linda years ago at Red Rocks in Colorado: she sang her heart out.

Guitarist: John McLaughlin ("Mahavishnu") or Hendrix
Bassist: Paul McCartney
Drummer: Mitch Mitchell
Vocalist: Carl Wilson

I'm limiting my choices to rock, since "lead singer" was specified (although McLaughlin is stretching the boundaries a bit).

Just wanted to add a little something to the topic. I remember watching a show some years back about the best drummers of all time (don't recall if it was just rock). I do remember that most of them interviewed had high regard for Ringo Starr. They all conceded that the Beatles music wasn't very technical, they did say that Ringo probably handled their beat better than any other drummer could. Seems that he was a perfect fit (even though I'm sure that Peter Best might have something to say about it ) for argueably the greatest rock group of all time.

Best Lead Singer... Sinatra (started out as one with James & Dorsey, and he was the best then, too .)
Best Guitarist........ Les Paul, Chuck Berry
Best Bass ............ stumped right now
Best Drummer ...... Gene Krupa
Band: Benny Goodman (many greats started out with him), and Glenn Miller; E Street Band w/ Clarence!

Appreciate Rock too. Just loved these guys first, they made me appreciate music more, and they were first, after all :>)

Yes! I never get tired of seeing them. I also put Trevor Rabin for best guitarist but we must also give Steve Howe credit. He is fantastic.

Well, this is a tough one for me. I've seen too many great lead singers to name just one.

As for a favorite guitarist, I'd have to pick Brad Paisley, though this is a tough one, too. I've seen Brad in concert several times, and his guitar playing is incredible. My choices for runners up would be Vince Gill and Steve Wariner.

As for Bass players, I can't really name any favorites, so I won't.

When it comes to drums, I've seen countless drummers that I thought were excellent. I can't truly say that I have a favorite, but the guy that played the solo for Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was impressive.
