Default For those who enjoy listening to Christian music

Instead of continuing to spin our wheels debating the Bible (trust me, we're mired down to the axle! ), I want to know what are some of your favorite songs or singers in Christian contemporary/rock, praise and worship, or even traditional hymns. Try to give links and/or lyrics where possible, so others can hear and/or read the songs if they wish.

I listen to CCM/rock and praise & worship music 95-100% of the time now. This has been the case for the last couple of years. I enjoy nearly every song and artist that I hear, but there are those that stand out to me. Jeremy Camp, Casting Crowns, MercyMe, and Todd Agnew are just a few.

In fact Todd Agnew's song My Jesus is incredibly powerful to me, and, if I had to pick one, is probably my favorite song. It just about cuts me to the bone every time I hear it. I never get tired of listening to his CDs, because the songs he writes are extremely well written and each one is unique. Here's a link to My Jesus and the lyrics:

www.myspace.com/toddagnew

My Jesus
[i]Which Jesus do you follow?
Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ
Then why do you look so much like the world?

Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and liars
He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant
So which one do you want to be?

The Great Explosion

The universe expands and contracts like a great heart.
It is expanding, the farthest nebulae
Rush with the speed of light into empty space.
It will contract, the immense navies of stars and galaxies,
dust clouds and nebulae
Are recalled home, they crush against each other in one
harbor, they stick in one lump
And then explode it, nothing can hold them down; there is no
way to express that explosion; all that exists
Roars into flame, the tortured fragments rush away from each
other into all the sky, new universes
Jewel the black breast of night; and far off the outer nebulae
like charging spearmen again
Invade emptiness.
No wonder we are so fascinated with
fireworks
And our huge bombs: it is a kind of homesickness perhaps for
the howling fireblast that we were born from.

My favorite Christian music is good old-fashioned gospel.

Victory In Jesus
I'll Fly Away
What A Friend We Have In Jesus
Precious Lord, Take My Hand
Blessed Assurance
Amazing Grace
The Old Rugged Cross
Peace In The Valley

and many more including~~~

..............Because He Lives..............

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal, and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives.
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain.
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

and the chorus after each stanza.........

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, All fear is gone!
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives!

...............This World Is Not My Home................

This world is not my home, I'm just a-passing through.
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know.
My Savior pardoned me and now I onward go.
I know He'll take me through, though I am weak and poor
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

I have a precious mother up in Gloryland.
I don't expect to stop until I shake her hand.
For me she's waiting there at Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally.
The Saints on every hand are shouting victory.
Their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

and the chorus after each stanza.........

O Lord, you know I have no friend like you.
If Heaven's not my home, then Lord what will I do?
The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

"Now that's good singing!!" said one of my music directors many years ago, a delightful elderly gentleman.

Don't know if this is the one you're looking for, but try:

I've found that a good resource for listening to music is:
search.mercora.com
You can search by artist and all of the music is CD quality.

Also, you can find lyrics to just about any contemporary Christian song and many hymns at:
lyrics.christiansunite.com
