Default psychedelic songs part deux

Incense and Peppermints ...duh...what was I thinking ...
strange thing is the vocals were sung by a "friend" as they
didn't think it would be a hit (it went to number #1)

more great psych tunes....

House of Glass .........Glass Family 1968 (a little known gem)

Love Buzz ..............Shocking Blue 1969 (a group known mostly for their huge hit "Venus" ....Love Buzz was covered by Nirvana)

Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You .....Bee Gees 1967
(very interested song featuring mellotron)

Mechanical World ............Spirit 1968

Cloud Song ...................United States of America 1968 (very strange)

Through My Eyes ............Creation 1967

The Wizard .................Marc Bolan 1965 (later of T-Rex fame, an astonishing song from Bolan, he was only 18 at the time!)

Sound Asleep..............The Turtles 1968 (another bizarre single)

Love Is All Around ...........The Troggs 1967 (cover was hit in '90's)

Peace Of Mind ..............Blue Cheer 1969 (the missing link between psyche and early metal ...also great is their 1968 song "Come and Get It")

Space Oddity ..............David Bowie 1969 (number # 1 in Britain in 1969)

Dark Star ....................The Grateful Dead 1968 (weird banjo playing during fade out ...reminder of their early "Jug Band" days)

Best Way to Travel ....The Moody Blues 1968

Seeing .....................Moby Grape 1969 (about Skip Spence?)

I Feel Free ................Cream 1966 (UK single Dec 66)

Everydays ..................Buffalo Springfield 1967 (covered by Yes)

I See You ..................The Byrds 1966 (covered by Yes)

The End .....................The Doors 1967 (my fav song of all time, amazing)

Judy In Disguise ...........John Fred & Playboy Band 1967 (number # 1 early 1968 ...their only big hit ...Beatle-ish with abit of Memphis)

Stars That Play with Laughing Sam's Dice ......Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967 (rare song that was B side to Burning of the Midnight Lamp....first letters of the title stand for STP LSD ....powerful version of acid that was going around at the time) (David Crosby of The Byrds had "STP" sticker on his guitar at Monterey Pop Festival ...popular car gas additive at the time)

Hurdy Gurdy Man..........Donovan 1968 (great song ...rumors were that Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones played on it ...not true ...though they both played on earlier Donovan sessions)

Default more psych music

Third Stone From the Sun ........Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967
amazing intrumental ...features feedback and jazz drumming by Mitch Mitchell
and slowed down vocals (actually Hendrix talking very strange lyrics)

Are You Experienced ? .............Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967
I have a live version recorded at Winterland Oct 1968 that is amazing

Theme From An Imaginary Western ....Mountain 1970 (written by Jack Bruce)
...Leslie West and his amazing guitar playing ...there is a live version on youtube from July 1970 ....the late Felix Papalardi on vocals (Felix was producer on Cream's Wheels of Fire and Disraeli Gears)

Send Me a Postcard ............Shocking Blue 1968 (their 1st single has an interesting mix of hard rock and psych "Iron Butterfly-like" keyboards

The Silent Sun .......Genesis 1968 (yes the same Genesis that had all those 1980's pop hits!....Peter Gabriel's vocals sounding very Bee Gees-like)

Over Under Sideways Down .....The Yardbirds 1966 ...great fuzz tone from Jeff Beck and the boys ...very intense ....very psych ....very good

Baby Please Don't Go .....Amboy Dukes 1967 .....similiar to Van Morrison's group Them's version but this time Ted Nugent rocks it out with very cool psych lead guitar ....sounds like a charging Rhino on steroids ...he even plays the riff to Hendrix's Third Stone from the Sun !

Eagle Never Hunts the Fly .......Music Machine 1966 ....better known for their hit Talk Talk ....this tune is very heavy for 1966 ....it sounds like the guitar is tuned down to C# years before Black Sabbath !

Baby I Love You .....Curiousity Shop 1968 ...minor hit in UK (fall 1968) it features a stock chord progression but nice organ /hard rock guitar mix

Dear Mr Fantasy .....Traffic 1967 ....a real classic ....again a stock chord progession we've all head a thousand times but with great intensity and Stevie Winwood vocals

I Can Hear the Grass Grow .....The Move 1967 ....love this one ..sounds abit like a psych CSN&Y (especially the guitar sound)

Shine on Brightly /Homburg ....Procol Harum love both these two from 1968 and 1967 respectively ....what a great band

In the Court of Crimson King ....King Crimson 1969 ....what a song ....Greg Lake on vocals ...lots of mellotron ....I used to have the album on Atlantic records with texturw cover ...scary cover too with that face

Ease Your Mind .....Every Mother's Son 1967 ....known for their bubble gum hit "Come on Down To My Boat" (yuck) ...this tune is very cool psych meets Beach Boys meets bubble gum

Your Mind and We Belong ....Love 1968 ....very strange early 1968 single ...the last for the original group ...there is the strange promo video for the song on youtube (it was shot at the group's house "The Castle")

No Time Like the Right Time ....Blues Project 1966 ...not totally psych but a very well grafted pop song with a psych keyboard solo

even thought ozi is an ad I'm glad it sprung this folder. Look at all the songs
a musician could add some doom metal tonality to. Maybe I'll check this music
out.
