Third Stone From the Sun ........Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967
amazing intrumental ...features feedback and jazz drumming by Mitch Mitchell
and slowed down vocals (actually Hendrix talking very strange lyrics)
Are You Experienced ? .............Jimi Hendrix Experience 1967
I have a live version recorded at Winterland Oct 1968 that is amazing
Theme From An Imaginary Western ....Mountain 1970 (written by Jack Bruce)
...Leslie West and his amazing guitar playing ...there is a live version on youtube from July 1970 ....the late Felix Papalardi on vocals (Felix was producer on Cream's Wheels of Fire and Disraeli Gears)
Send Me a Postcard ............Shocking Blue 1968 (their 1st single has an interesting mix of hard rock and psych "Iron Butterfly-like" keyboards
The Silent Sun .......Genesis 1968 (yes the same Genesis that had all those 1980's pop hits!....Peter Gabriel's vocals sounding very Bee Gees-like)
Over Under Sideways Down .....The Yardbirds 1966 ...great fuzz tone from Jeff Beck and the boys ...very intense ....very psych ....very good
Baby Please Don't Go .....Amboy Dukes 1967 .....similiar to Van Morrison's group Them's version but this time Ted Nugent rocks it out with very cool psych lead guitar ....sounds like a charging Rhino on steroids ...he even plays the riff to Hendrix's Third Stone from the Sun !
Eagle Never Hunts the Fly .......Music Machine 1966 ....better known for their hit Talk Talk ....this tune is very heavy for 1966 ....it sounds like the guitar is tuned down to C# years before Black Sabbath !
Baby I Love You .....Curiousity Shop 1968 ...minor hit in UK (fall 1968) it features a stock chord progression but nice organ /hard rock guitar mix
Dear Mr Fantasy .....Traffic 1967 ....a real classic ....again a stock chord progession we've all head a thousand times but with great intensity and Stevie Winwood vocals
I Can Hear the Grass Grow .....The Move 1967 ....love this one ..sounds abit like a psych CSN&Y (especially the guitar sound)
Shine on Brightly /Homburg ....Procol Harum love both these two from 1968 and 1967 respectively ....what a great band
In the Court of Crimson King ....King Crimson 1969 ....what a song ....Greg Lake on vocals ...lots of mellotron ....I used to have the album on Atlantic records with texturw cover ...scary cover too with that face
Ease Your Mind .....Every Mother's Son 1967 ....known for their bubble gum hit "Come on Down To My Boat" (yuck) ...this tune is very cool psych meets Beach Boys meets bubble gum
Your Mind and We Belong ....Love 1968 ....very strange early 1968 single ...the last for the original group ...there is the strange promo video for the song on youtube (it was shot at the group's house "The Castle")
No Time Like the Right Time ....Blues Project 1966 ...not totally psych but a very well grafted pop song with a psych keyboard solo
