That is a favorite song so you made me look it up It was written and performed by Hall & Oates on their Album Abandoned Luncheonette in 1973. It was covered by Tavares in 1974. I remember Tavares from their music in the Saturday Night Fever movie soundtrack. You can find stuff you never expected at the Wiki website

Default hey thanks

I knew Abandoned Luncheonette was their first album, long before they became a hit machine but I didn't know it(She's Gone) was from Abandoned luncheonette, i thought it was from their Rich Girl period in 77. I love Wikipedia. Always liked the Tavares version of More than A Woman better than the Bee Gees version (which was pretty good anyway). More passion and spunk.

BTW, on the Tavares best of there is a song called Bad Times (theme from Defiance). Was Defiance a movie? What year was Bad Times, Check it Out and Free Ride from? the CD cites the years of all the songs running between 73-79, but from what i recall Whodunit was their last hit in 77, or at least what i recall

The Movie Defiance came out in 1980 and starred Jan-Michael Vincent.

Pretty sure that Tavares stayed together in it's original form until sometime in the mid 80s.

Free Ride was originally done by The Edgar Winter Group and released in late 1972 on They Only Come Out At Night - the same album that featured the instrumental Frankenstein. Tavares covered it around 74 I believe. Probably on their first or second album.

Check It Out was from Tavares' 1974 debut album.

That's all I got...
