How did you like VH1 when it first came out?

Me I thought it was a great channel and it brings me back alot of memories watching good music videos on television, my father was a big fan of VH1 (he did NOT like MTV at all).

I wish VH1 would go back to their roots again.

When it came out. I saw it as a soft version of MTV. Back when Mtv was about playing music. Both have had there better days...

Is VH1 still around? I have not had it on any cable stations in several different cities in many years.

It was good. They used to have some live concerts they broadcast.

It's still around but they barely play any music videos anymore, now it's a bunch of cruddy reality shows

I did like those Behind The Music things they were running there in the late 90's/early 00's. MTV is in the crapper. And the only good shows on MTV2 are Subterranean and Headbangers Ball.

I also loved watching Behind the Music on VH1, I sure wish that show would come back on television again.

Most excellent early 90's memories!!!! The takeoff on INXS "I need you tonight" with those opening guitar notes being sung over as "V-H-1"!!!! Follow that up with a little Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit", with the old janitor dude mopping the floor in the old high school building. Those were the days!!!!

I only remember VH1 in the mid to late 90's as by then MTV wasn't playing videos (Reality tv crap) and VH1 had the ''Big 80's'' show on every nite (90 minutes of 80's music videos) but MTV ruled in the 80's.

When VH1 first came on, it was a lot of soft pop junk. It was mainstream to MTV's (occasional) cutting edge.

Even VH1 Classic is crap now. How do these cable channels lose their vision so badly?
