Dio the band is for me most definitely Metal.
I took 5Lakes comment to mean the song
itself to his ears lean more hard rock...
not the group itself. If the band was
considered hard rock then yikes... No.. the band
is Metal.
But that brings us to some awesomeness of Dio...
Ronnie J Dio IS awesome... he was known
in the early 70s as hard rock with the band
Elf and considered among hard rock fans as
the creator of that genre... ... some examples...
Elf ( The Electric Elves founded by Dio in 1967
later became the Elfs ) - Aqualung - Warpigs -
So we come to my generation and we're expose
to Dio as Heavy Metal and consider anything
created by Dio in the 80s as strictly belonging
to Metal.
I've learned in my travels that depending
on country, genre (hard rock or Heavy Metal)
and physical age, Dio songs are considered ALL
Metal unless I'm speaking with older Metalheads,
musicians or someone outside the USA. Then its
dependent on song whether they hear more
Hard Rock than Metal.
LOL ... 6/3, in today's world... one might see
this song from the perspective of miracle
man being wall street... the pigs are the
bankers, congressional leaders and the
lawyers who protect them etc...
sings... miracle man got busted...
... a miracle man who's not in disguise...
.... he don't know where he's going...
but we know just where he's been
... repent ye wretched sinner
self-righteous clown...
miracle man got busted...
I don't mind the music, but some of these folks seem like comic book characters, what's with all the make up. I'm good with all the music, but the make-up? Hmmmmm

I could give you a practical reason first tho
its not satisfying and I suspect you're
asking about "corpsepaint" ...
paint stops you from dripping a lot of sweat
which you don't want to do on electrical
equipment under VERY hot lights, which is
why a lot of bands wear it. you don't want
your hands slipping when you're quick on
guitar frets.
as to corpsepaint & black metal... let me
refer you to the following link...
it's a great question... just my time is limited
and I think you would enjoy hearing more
than 1 view... (Many bands I LOVE wear
corpsepaint but then I'm a heavy Scand.
Metal fan (Norwegian especially).
Thank you for asking it
