There is an artist by the name of Akir and he has an album called "The Legacy", they have it on Amazon. Shing02 and Substantial are also good artists.

Most of what you guys mentioned isn't underground at all. Atmosphere, Talib, Mos Def, The Roots, MF Doom, none of them are underground. Immortal Technique is indie, but every suburban kid who tries to act like they know rap namedrops Immortal Technique. Everyone and their dog has heard Dance with the Devil.

If you want underground:

Black Element
Somobe
Blue Scholars
Evidence
Fashawn
Illogic
John Robinson
Krumbz (more underground than underground)
Move.meant
Pacewon
Qwazaar
Qwel and Kip Killagain
Reks (best rapper people dont know about)
Skyzoo
Soulstice
Strange Fruit Project
Theory Hazit
Tonedeff
Tragedy Khadafi

For some stuff in the middle between mainstream and underground:

Blu & Exile
Murs
Brother Ali
Aesop Rock
Cage
El-P
Little Brother
Pharoahe Monch
Reef the Lost Cauze

No, none of those guys are random people who come up to you at malls and stuff. Not remotely.
