What are some of your favorite song openings, music-wise, not lyrics.

I think the opening to Fire Woman (The Cult) is one of the best ever. I love the way it builds in intensity and doesn't let you down once it really starts, great song.

my 1st thought when I read the title of this thread was Black Dog from Led Zeppelin and than I read that it had to be music and not lyrics.

My next thought was Bat out of Hell, Great choice Herbrocks

"I need a lover" came on the radio a few minutes before I pulled into my driveway this afternoon. I apparently never realized they have some sort of extended version where the beginning instrumental goes on for a couple of minutes. Made my day for some reason.

I really dig the opening of "L.A. Woman" by The Doors. As that thing builds you just know that you are going for a ride.

"Sweet Child 'O Mine" is a great intro...

Two of my faves, man so many to think about, good thread...

I like a lot of those...

add "Still Got the Blues" by Garry Moore, "Back in Black" by AC/DC, "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin, and "Fantasy" by Aldo Nova.

Yeah, that really is a good one.
I also really like the intros to "Enter Sandman" by Metallica and "Love Song" by Tesla.
