Tragically, so much of the MUSIC forum has taken on a much younger (and a bit short-sighted) YouTube theme. Many posters can only think as far back as their own life experiences dictate. Notice the 80's and 90's threads. Nearly every thread will eventually be diverted back to the same themes and eras - which is understandable to a point. We do move on in life, after all.

However... many forget WHERE rock & roll began ('50's), and seem to think that only their era of music is important. Asking about the fifties is like asking them to comment about Julius Caesar or the Revolutionary War! To many, its ancient history.

Again, MUSIC is supposed to be an all-inclusive forum, but many here will shun and scoff at anything back beyond their own era, because it just ain't "cool" to them. Frank Sinatra who? What, they had music back in the 20's, 30's, and '40's? Seriously? No way!

Still, music is still one of the best ways to communicate, and I just hope the younger crowd eventually gets that its not only about their musical eras. Perhaps someday they'll look back a little further... where it all originated.

However... I'm sure I was the same way with my era!

Amazingly, I heard that song just yesterday! The guy who sang it was Robert Mitchum (actor), who also starred in the movie of the same name. The movie was pretty much about what began NASCAR - the fast cars - which ran illegal "moonshine".
