I don't think it really matters if you LIKE the Beatles. It's just amazing that they were. You can think they weren't good musicians, or that they were over rated, but the fact is, they were 4 kids from very poor, working class backgrounds, none of whom finished school, who rocked the establishment, influenced music and industry and are still relevant and present and have cultural influence today.

Not true, but they did take strength from the Crickets name.

I am quite sure it is true.

Why did The Beatles choose the name 'The Beatles' | OldiesMusicBlog

I don't doubt that you found these sources, but other sources say that the Crickets were just a part of how they formed the name, not the main inspiration. They loved Buddy Holly and so the association with being similar to The Crickets did seem cool to them. I'm just saying it wasn't the MAIN source of the name.

Spot on!

Thought I'd say something here.

Drover weighed in on this two days after the OP cranked out this little gem.

This little gem was started in May of 2009.

The OP was shown the door a few days later.

Obviously this thread survived the lock job, not sure why.

It's been a long time since we've had a well rounded discussion on the Fab 4 regarding their early days, their Capitol years, their Apple years, the breakup, the solo careers, etc., etc, etc. It's time for one!

Hopefully one of our posters will get one going here!

As for the future of this thread--****POOF!!*****
