Any Teena Marie fans buying her new CD that's coming out on Tuesday June 9th? Lovergirl was one of her biggest hits of the 80s, and she's famous for working with the late great Rick James singing the classic ballad Fire and Desire.
I heard her sing live on the BET awards show a couple of years back - she's lost most of her voal ability.
I think it was Rick was had lost his vocal ability from all of the drugs and abuse he had done to his body. Teena basically carried that song all by her self, hitting those high notes with such ease. Teena sounded, in my opinion, as good as ever. Her new CD has 16 tracks all of which are inspired by her favorite singers. So we will get a little bit of jazz, funk, r and b, and just good Teena Marie music. I have included the link for you to see that performance, and listen to Rick's voice compared to Teena's and then be the judge.

I remember it and I thought both of them sounded awful. She didn't sound like she was hitting those high notes with ease - she sounded like she was screaming. What was that part between 1:25 - 1:35? That sounded like karokee - bad karokee.
