One cover song I absolutely cannot stand is "Suspicious Minds" which was originally done by Elvis, the singer's voice of the cover version was IMO awful and ear grating.

Yeah.. Elvis is cheesy, lol.. but I still like him and "Suspicious Minds" is classic.
Just a lil back story for why I like the song.. my dad was a bit of a rolling stone and whenever he played this song.. I'll always remember that little twinkle he'd get in his eye. He's since settled down, lol.. I guess old age will do that to you but there are a few songs that bring these memories out of him.

Then you probably won't like anything by the Fine Young Cannibals...it sounds the same on all his songs.
How about the Clash, "I Fought the Law", or Social Distortion's "Ring of Fire"
It was my own CD. Forty Licks. I'm tired of hearing Billy Joel, the Who, and Free Bird on our stations. Nothing against any of them I'm just so over that song, and tired of hearing the same stuff over and over again. I like the one about the "place called the jug."

I prefer Jose Feliciano's "Light My Fire" to the Doors' original.
Another interesting cover was "Act Naturally" by the Beatles (Ringo sang it) after it had been a Number 1 Country hit for Buck Owens. It was on the flip side of "Yesterday."
Country singer John Anderson has a great version of "It's All Over Now," an early Rolling Stones hit.
I think the Rolling Stones version of "Not Fade Away" is better than Buddy Holly's original.
