I think that Eddie Van Halen is one of the best guitarists of all time. What is your opinion of the best guitarist of all time?

Totally up to personal opinion.

IMO, once you get to a certain level there really is no "best of all time". You could put EVH, Yngwie Malmsteen, Al Di Meola, Jeff Beck, Randy Rhodes, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Hendrix, Page, Andres Sergovia, etc all in the same category. They just play different styles.

Its similar if someone were to ask whos the hottest woman of all time. Bunch of 10's so there really isnt an answer

My favorite would be Hendrix.

It all depends upon the style you like. I think that jazz guitarists have greater mastery of their instruments overall than most rock players, but the most impressive guitarist I've ever seen live was Carlos Montoya. He sounded like at least two guitarists and sometimes three. How he did all that at once I'll never know.
