Outsider music (The songs aren't always that odd, but they're "outsider" in that they're from mental patients or homeless people or deluded rich kids)

YouTube - Daniel Johnston - True Love Will Find You In The End

YouTube - The Shaggs "My Pal Foot Foot"

YouTube - Wesley Willis - I Whipped Spiderman's Ass

Or sometimes all three at the same time.

That's one of my favorite Daniel Johnson songs by the way.
I think Beck covers it.

Most 'outsider artists' have already been found and exploited and / or brought into the spotlight by people like Beck...and Thurston Moore...Kurt Cobain etc.
Who's that one that every hipster glommed onto about 10 years ago? Oh yeah, Jandek!

Author / producer Irwin Chusid's book profiles dozens of outsider musicians, both prominent and obscure, including such figures as The Shaggs, Syd Barrett, Tiny Tim, Joe Meek, Jandek, Captain Beefheart, The Cherry Sisters, Wesley Willis, Daniel Johnston, the Legendary Stardust Cowboy, Wild Man Fischer, and Harry Partch. The text presents their strange life stories along with photographs, interviews, cartoons, and discographies...

We all know the band, but the song is somewhat less well-known. A 'non-chomp' version was done by Jan and Dean. (Yes, there's an original of this song!)

YouTube - The Beach Boys - Vegetables

That album has a few 'unusual' songs on it...one of my favorites:

YouTube - The Beach Boys - Fall Breaks and Back to Winter (W. Woodpeck

YouTube - Beach Boys - Battle Hymn Of The Republic
The Battle Hymn of the Republic...with reindeer bells?

Speaking of the Beach Boys:

Kindy peaceful really...la dee da, la dee da, la dee deeeee!

Yeah of the three that was the only one found to be actually kind of nice. The other two didn't precisely work for me, but I felt they did count as unusual.

Here's some filk, which is occasionally unusual.

YouTube - Tom Smith - "I Want To Be Peter Lorre"

YouTube - When I Was a Mermaid - original song by Talis Kimberley.mpg

YouTube - Tatooine by Jeff & Maya Bohnhoff. Vocals by Kristine Bohnhoff
