Do you work in Lower East Side?
I think The Mob and Urban Waste were the best bands from NYC.
And btw, I don´t mind reading stories from any of you who were there when it happened.
I started off in Harlem/Washington Heights in the Transit Police Department. I worked there for four years and then Transit merged with the NYPD. At that point I transferred to Brownsville, Brooklyn. The only time I ever worked in other parts of Manhattan were for details such as parades, the President coming to town, demonstrations, etc. I am currently retired on disability due to a heart attack at age 34 which the department considered job related.
For some reason I remember The Mob name but can't remember any of their music. Urban Waste was great and I can't believe that I did not mention them or Kraut. Kraut was one of my favorites when I first got into the scene.
I found out about this band from a Sub Pop compilation record that I picked up in Providence R.I. when I was in high school...
so happy to find a great punk rock chick, and since they were from SoCal, it seemed sooooooo exotic...(i grew up in the NY tri state area)...
lots of people beat me to one of my all time favorite bands....Gang of Four...
Nice to see this thread growing!
the Dickes, DK's, Circle Jerks, Adolescents etc etc I saw when I was in high school in the late 80's too, mostly in Connecticut at the Anthrax....
and yeah, my hair is still blue though Plaidmom! and my 3 year old loves my blue hair!
