I do realize that several of the bands I listed had their debut in the mid to late seventies, but they influenced me mainly with their material from the 80's. This is the time period I think about. Although not neccessarily with the original lineup that they started with, most if not all of these bands still do live shows. Most new bands of today will not stand that test of time.

I would ask, how many times can you listen to 80's metal without wanting something new?

To me there are plenty of metal band's from the 80's, plenty to keep me satisfied for that style of music.

By the way, anybody know why so many teenagers these days are wearing old metal band t-shirts? Are they actually listening to Iron Maiden, etc? Its funny, skinny jeans with old metal t-shirts? How times change....

I don't know, but it does seem as though I want something new which is why I created this thread.

Dudes posing as chicks, UGH.

These guys don't care about the dudes in the audience...they want the same hair appointment at the salon as their girlfriends to steal them away, and to share hair products.

Lemmy could mistake these guys for groupies...and when he got their pants off...Death Metal was born!

I think the guy on the far left I saw working at Home Depot.

Default will be

dude theres gonna be some classic metal sounding bands soon...loads of young people like iron maiden, priest, dokken etc...skinny jeans n biker jackets seem to becoming more common...coz theres no new heavy metal bands...theyre all metalcore n stuff...steel panther are a joke...some sad dudes that have to rip themselves to get somewhere...they could have been good aswell coz theyre all pretty good instrumentalists...others are crashdiet, dirty penny n co...but they dont have the attitude n none of the guitarists compare to the likes of glenn tipton,kk downing or george lynch etc...

judas priest is my favorite band. all my years of searching, the only band that sounds like them is primal fear from germany. other good bands in the style you like are: newer bands: wolf, hammerfall, brainstorm, firewind, force of evil, paragon, mystic prophecy, rob rock, astral doors, metalium, seven witches, icarus witch, godiva, dream evil to name a few. older bands: attacker, savatage, marshall law, accept, vicious rumours, grave digger, running wild, warrior, obsession, loudness, malice, lizzy borden, and of course saxon to name a few. all the new good bands are in europe. hope this helps.
