Pretty much all of my friends and much of my family are total music lovers. But one thing is strange. One of my favorite bands is The Velvet Underground. I love them and see genius in all of their work and want to share it with them. But no one appreciates it. Some just write it off as noisy or boring. I thought that they were supposed to be one of the greatest bands of the 1960's. Is it just they don't "get it?"

Also lets make this into a VU appreciation thread. Go now, appreciate!

Very intersting band, to say the least.

Listen to this on headphones and in an altered state of mind (my choice was The MacCallan, yours may vary), it's quite a trip:

I used to listen to VU back in the 70's and I thought they had a lot of talent, starting with John Cale, Lou Reed and that soft Niko voice, back then, in school it was very easy to be at their level and understand a lot of the feelings they experienced!!
I had a lot of fun!!!
I still have the original vinyl with the banana peel that sticks on and off somewhere in my collection, of course, it has been used and abused!!

Because every Velvet Underground song was about heroin? Good job, dude!

~~~~~~~~~~
They were light years ahead of their time. It took twenty years for people to look back and go "Holy sh*t, they really did have something."
Fantastic stuff.
You don't say? I was just, you know, pointing out that there is more to them than songs about heroin?
